Growing To Serve
As Dayton, Ohio and neighboring Miami Valley communities prepare for the new millennium, Dayton International Airport has embarked on a Master Plan Update to meet forecasted transportation needs and continue driving the region's economic engine.
The Master Plan Update will determine the long-range infrastructure and other needs of Airport users and tenants. This will be accomplished by updating activity forecasts, reviewing the facility requirements for the next 20 years, defining purpose and need, evaluating prudent and reasonable alternatives, and preparing a detailed plan for implementation of the preferred concept.
One action will be to satisfy the need for runways of sufficient length to support existing and forecasted air cargo and passenger flights. While striving to have the least negative affect on our neighbors, the primary goals of this effort are revisions to the ground transportation access links and improvements to the on site land use plan.
We have also initiated the F.A.R. Part 150 Noise Study and the Environmental Impact Statement Study has been initiated and is being managed by the FAA. Community-wide support for comprehensive planning is critical in order to correctly accommodate the inevitable changes and apply a smart growth plan that will benefit the region. The end result is an improved business economy, a stronger community, and a higher quality of life for everyone.
