Airport Information

Fixed Based Operators

In the early days of aviation in the United States, there were no airports. "Barn-stormers" were pilots who performed aerobatic shows and landed in farmer's fields, moving across the country as travelling performers. Mechanics and flight instructors followed the shows, offering their services. As aviation matured, and airports were built repair stations, flight instructors, charter operators, and fuel suppliers could now be found consistently at these "fixed bases." Thus, the term Fixed Base Operator or “FBO” was born.

In a city known as the “Birthplace of Aviation,” having FBOs is essential.  At the Dayton International Airport, there are three FBO businesses located on the Airport in the area referred to as General Aviation Center One.  The FBOs provide a variety of aircraft services, including aircraft fueling and maintenance, tie-down and hanger space, aircraft deicing, and ground handling services.

The FBOs located at the Dayton International Airport are Aviation Sales, Stevens Aviation, and Wright Brothers Aero.  Please click on the links below to find out more about each FBO and the services they have to offer.
