Dayton International Airport

Arts at the airport

In June 2008, the Airport started the Arts at the Airport program.  This program is a collaborative effort with the Airport's strategic program partner, Culture Works - The Arts Fund (for information about Culture Works, visit www.cultureworks.org).  The program was created to enhance and enrich the visitor and passenger experience at the Airport by the introduction of works of art, performance art and musical performances.  The goals of the program are to highlight and reflect the values, character and talent within the Dayton Community, serve to inform visiting passengers about Dayton’s rich history of flight, innovation, technology and invention, and distinguish and promote the greater Dayton artistic community. Phase I of the program’s master plan has taken effect with implementation of "Soaring with the Arts" and "Soaring Sounds".

Soaring with the Arts

“Soaring with the Arts” is designed to infuse visual art throughout the atmosphere of the Dayton International Airport.  This component of the program provides a new venue for the talented visual artists of the greater Dayton area to showcase their artwork to a wide and diverse audience.  Temporary art exhibits from Dayton artists and the addition of artfully designed benches by local school children located outside of the Airport’s Terminal Building is just the beginning.

Soaring Sounds

“Soaring Sounds” is designed to entertain passengers and visitors at the Dayton International Airport with live entertainment.  During peak traveling hours on weekdays, live music performances can be seen and heard on the Soaring Sounds Live Performance stage.  The diversity of entertainment in the talented performers of the greater Dayton area sets a fascinating tone throughout the Airport’s atmosphere.  In addition, special concerts are scheduled throughout the year which will include an upcoming program entitled, SMARTS (Students’ Music and Art Series).

If you are interested in performing on the Soaring Sounds Live Performance Stage, please complete and submit an Application and send your audio samples to the Airport Arts Coordinator at the address listed below. All submissions are subject to review and approval.  We appreciate your interest and hope you enjoy the Dayton International Airport’s Soaring Sounds whenever you visit.
