Dayton International Airport Receives Honors in 2012 Excellence in Airport Marketing and Communications Contest

Dayton, Ohio – June 12, 2012

On Wednesday, June 6, the Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) announced the winners in this year’s Excellence in Airport Marketing and Communications Contest and Dayton International Airport was among the honorees for the second year in a row.

According to ACI-NA President, Greg Principato, the contest is highly competitive. He notes, “It has become increasingly important for airports to convey the message that they are important economic engines within their respective communities.”

Dayton International Airport received two awards from among 250 entries. Winning second place in the Television Advertising category was DAY’s “Wright Brothers” commercial featuring Orville texting about a grumpy Wilbur (http://youtu.be/oqMObOT1AAE). A second entry, in the category of Video and Film production, received third place (http://vimeo.com/32512039). The animated video addresses DAY’s advantages for travelers and also speaks directly to DAY’s impact on economic development in the region.

“We are tremendously pleased to be honored for our marketing efforts,” said Terrence G. Slaybaugh, Director of Aviation for the City of Dayton.  “We face many of the same challenges as the other 50 airports who participated, so it’s especially rewarding to be recognized by our peers for our creative approach to communicating with our customers and community.”
